Eisstadion Biel

Information and visiting experience by Daniel Geering (dangeery@bluewin.ch)
Translation by Bernt Poelling-Vocke (Bernty@gmx.com)

The EHC Biel was founded in 1939 and played in the NLA from 1975 until 1995. During those 20 years the team captured three titles in 1978, 1981 and 1983, ever since the 1995-1996 season the team has descended to the NLB though.

The arena fits 9.000 fans, 4.000 of those are able to sit, the rest has to get standing-room tickets.

During the championship-season in 1981 the team had itīs all-time record average-attendance with 7784, today only derbies against old rivals such as the SC Bern or the SC Langnau result in a sold out facility and tickets shouldnīt be a problem for a normal game, at least until the team advances to the NLA again.

An interesting fact worth to be mentioned about the city of Biel is that the city is bilangual, german and french are the used languages.
