Eisstadion Davos
The Ice arena of Davos is one of the most beautiful hockey arenas of the world and is
an architectural master-piece as well. The arena was built in 1979 and has a capacity of
7700, about 3500 fans can have a seat and the other 4400 will have to be in the standing
room.
The team from Davos is one of the most traditional teams in Switzerland and no other team
has ever won as many championships (25) as the team of Davos. The regular attendance
during the last season (1999/2000) was about 5100 fans per game, so it shouldn't be a
problem to get tickets for most of the regular season games. You have to spend about 19
Franken to be in the standing room or between 38 and 45 Franken for a seat, this is
varying where exactly you want to be.
Another important event is the yearly Sprengler-Cup, one of the most famous club
tournaments of the world. Every year between Christmas and New Year the best teams from
Russia, Czecheslowakia, Sweden, Finland and Germany will come together in Davos to try to
win the Cup. If you would like to visit one of the Cups-games it is advisable to try to
get a hold of a couple tickets a little bit earlier, because most of those games will be
sold out.
